If you're here it means that you've already registered with us and are a member of a special group of people. We thank you for your interest and hope you will continue to visit this page for updates on our work.
Over the last few months we have been striving hard to get this project up and running.
Here's a list of our most recent accomplishments:
- We have received approval for the project from the Animal Studies Committee of Washington University in Saint Louis.
- In a week, we should receive our Research Permit from the Peruvian park service, INRENA
- We've begun training in animal handling/restraint, venepuncture, anesthesia, etc. under the guidance of Dr. Pam Clary of the Kingsbury Animal Hospital of Saint Louis.
- We have had a few students approach us with the goal of signing up to be field assistants for the project (which is terrific news!)
- We've applied to two grants so far, with over ten more in the works
We expect to have more news by the end of January, especially regarding practical things like permits, visas, training, etc. By May we should have a good idea of how much funding the project will recieve. By July we expect to know for sure whether we can begin in October 2009. We're certainly optimistic about our start date and are planning for the project accordingly.
More news soon!
