PrimatesPeru is an unincorporated nonprofit organisation dedicated to the study and conservation of primates in the Los Amigos Conservation Concession in southeastern Perú. Our primary focus is on the investigation of chimerism and its correlates with cooperative breeding in saddleback tamarins (Saguinus fuscicollis).
This project is affiliated to the Anthropology Department of Washington University in Saint Louis and is based on graduate research of Mrinalini Watsa. Gideon Erkenswick and Mrinalini Watsa co-founded PrimatesPeru in early 2009, with fieldwork beginning in October of 2009. The project team works out of CICRA, a biological field station in the Peruvian Amazon. We are currently accepting support in the form of volunteers, research assistants, and charitable contributions.
If the research goals of this project seem interesting to you, and you would like to assist the project, please explore the requirements to volunteer and registration options. If you still have questions, send an email to primatesperu(at)gmail.com.
